Federico García Lorca Centre in Granada continues its cultural activities within the EEA Grants framework and around the figure of the poet.

Within the film series “Women and Cinema: Two presences in Lorca”, on 6th November the film "The Bride” will be released, with the presence of its director Paula Ortiz, a loose adaptation of "Bodas de Sangre" (Blood Wedding), one of the most emblematic works of García Lorca, followed by a debate. On 7th November, the documentary "Nuria Espert: a woman of theatre" is to be screened. A documentary that draws a human portrait of the renowned actress, one of the most important in the Spanish acting scene, who achieved great success appearing or directing Federico’s greatest works.

Besides, from 30th October to 10th January, the exhibition “Duende’s theory” reflects the influence that García Lorca has on other artists of his time. The exhibition features works of Picasso, Dalí, Miró or Buñuel, as well as around 20 original drawings of the poet. “Horse’s head”, preparatory work of “Guernica”, and “Portrait of Manuel de Falla”, both of Picasso, share exhibition with “Still Life” by Dalí, which belonged to García Lorca.

“They are artists about whom Lorca wrote. There are references to the Civil War, sexual connotations, desire in Federico’s works and to the dream world, the night, the inspiration or the ‘duende’”, explained Enrique Juncosa, curator of the exhibition.
