Fighting against gender-based violence is a priority all over Europe. In Spain, despite the best efforts and the advances, the number of women killed by their partners or ex partners and the persisting gender stereotypes among the youngest, show that much remained to be done.

Gender Equality and Work-Life Balance Programme, promoted by the Spanish Secretary of State for Social Services and Equality and co-financed by the EEA Grants, has committed over a million euros for six projects developed by six Spanish regions with one objective: to improve the coordination among all actors involved in the assistance to the victims, with great results.

-Castilla la Mancha Women’s Institute has developed Dulcinea software, a database with all the information related to the cases managed by the Institute, aiming at the creation of a single record available for all the parties involved in the fight and prevention of gender-based violence, around 350 people.

-PAWLA project, developed by Castilla y León Government “will enable that every victim of gender violence had a single and digital file whose content could be managed in a coordinated way by all Administrations and entities in charge of offering the victims a comprehensive, individualized and multidisciplinary care”, explained Alicia García, Head of the Family and Gender Equality Department.

-Extremadura’s Women’s Institute also has developed a software, ACT-Viogen, for the integrated and coordinated management of the gender-based violence files and available to all the actors involved in the victims assistance. This new resource has been developed in close collaboration with all the parties involved. The software will coordinate national, regional and local Administrations and it will provide information in real time about the situation of the victims.

-In Andalucía, the Department of Justice and Home Affairs has designed, with EEA Grants funding, the Personalized Safety and Comprehensive Care for Victims of Gender Violence Plan, a map to follow in any case of aggression in order to guarantee the best assistance, coordinating police and judiciary actions, psychosocial support and labour market integration not only for the women but for their children.

-In Baleares, Family and Social Services Department, through Baleares Women’s Institute, has set up Ariadna Project. “It is the resource, both physical, with Ariadna Casal shelter house, and professional support, that aims that women victims of violence could take control again of their own lives”, explained Sandra Fernández. The most important part of the project is the development of individual care plans, taking into account the particularities of each case in order to pay attention to the most needed areas as well as the main objectives during their stay in the shelter house.

-CORE project, developed by Murcia’s Government, has also pledged to provide a more tailored response to the women and their children, reinforcing the adjustment between the needs and the institutions’ services in order to achieve a more effective response.
