 CDTI launched the Second Call Approved projects within the EEA Grants Environment and Climate Change Programme. 101 projects from 110 Spanish companies with two aims: reducing the energy bill and caring for the environment.

A new life for radioactive lands

 Have you ever thought about the destiny of the land occupied by a nuclear power plant when closed? Can it be reused? Not until now, but two Spanish companies, Ensa y Sereco Gestión, with EEA Grants financing, are researching and developing an effective technology to eliminate the radiological element of contaminated lands and materials in order to restore the contaminated area as much as possible.

An innovative solution to the storage problem for renewable energy

 The storage of energy from turbines is one of the main problems of wind energy. Trying to find a solution, Técnicas Reunidas is developing, with the EEA Grants help, a storage system which increases efficiency, reduces cost and helps the environment.

The small revolution of the eco-friendly leather jackets

 The leather process required to make a jacket takes three months and thousand litres of water and chemicals. Spanish company La Doma is well aware because eight generations of the same family have been tanning leather through a process that has not changed a bit. Now, with the EEA Grants help, they are developing a prototype which will revolutionise the sector.

18 million boost for green technology

 Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway are providing €18 million to the environmental and climate change-related research and technology programme in Spain. This is set to be a win-win for the three donor countries, Spain and the environment.

Northern funds to improve Southern air

 154. This is the number of projects –with 171 participating companies- submitted to the second open call of Environment and Climate Change Programme managed by the Centro Centre for Technical Industrial Development (CDTI)  and financed by EEA Grants. A great success and good news for Spanish environment.
