A before and an after in their professional careers. That is what Promociona Project, co-funded by the EEA Grants, has meant for the 70 female participants of the second edition.

The participants highlighted that this project have allowed them to stop and define where their career is heading and how to achieve their objectives, but also, to gain self-confidence and to be part of an important network which is bound to continue thanks to initiatives such as the creation of the Women Managers and Board Directors Association.

Promociona project, whose aim is to encourage, from the business organizations, a higher number of women executives on Steering Committees and Boards of Directors, is already in its third edition. A total of 186 women have taken part in this business programme, managed by CEOE, which includes business training in ESADE, mentoring, coaching and networking. And the objectives are being fulfilled: 25% of the female participants have been promoted in their companies.

“Nothing has been given to you for free; you have proven your merits”, the Director of the Women’s Institute and for Equal Opportunities, Rosa Urbón, transmitted to the attendants to the second edition closing event. Urbón added that, given the positive results, Spanish Government intends to continue with this project, even without the EEA Grants support.

Norwegian Ambassador, Johan Christopher Vibe, stressed that there is a growing consensus about “the positive effects of more women in leading positions not only for their companies but also for the country’s competitiveness”, and he encouraged the participants to become “ambassadors for equality”.

In the closing event also took the floor Ana Plaza, CEOE General Secretary, and the sponsors of this second edition, Patricia Abril, from McDonald’s, and Ignacio Garralda, from Mutua Madrileña, as well as Enrique Verdeguer, ESADE Madrid Director.

Promociona is one of the predefined projects within Gender Equality and Work-life Balance Programme, developed by the Spanish Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, and funded with 10 million euros from the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism.
